There's nothing quite like a nice mug of hot chocolate on a cold evening and we think you'll find making your own is so much better than buying it.
For this recipe, we used coconut milk, but you could use any milk you like, such as hemp or almond milk. If you're feeling really extravagant, then make your own cashew nut milk!
The keys to this recipe are to not heat the milk too much and to make sure you give it all a good mix or blend to get it creamy.
Ingredients
- 2 mugs milk of your choice
- 4 tsp Elements for Life raw cacao powder
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1/4 tsp chilli powder (optional)
- 4 tsp Elements for Life coconut palm sugar (adjust the amount to suit you)
- Sprinkle of vanilla powder
- Ground Elements for Life raw cacao nibs to garnish (optional)
Method
- Measure out 2 mugs of milk, add to a saucepan and slowly warm (do not bring to the boil)
- Add the cacao powder, cinnamon, chilli and coconut palm sugar
- Mix together using a hand blender or whisk to get it nice and frothy
- Taste it and add more coconut palm sugar if it's not sweet enough for you
- Pour into your mugs and grind raw cacao nibs on top

Variations
To add even more luxuriousness to your hot chocolate, add a teaspoon of virgin coconut oil and/or raw cacao butter and let it melt slowly in.
