Preparing your cacao elixir for a cacao ceremony is easy, though will benefit from allowing more time to make it sacred!
Below is our introductory ceremonial cacao drink recipe that is a great basis to start from as you explore your relationship with the Cacao Spirit.
Ingredients
- 20-50g Elements for Life Virgin Ceremonial Cacao or Serendipity Ceremonial Cacao, chopped or grated
- 100-200ml of your choice of spring water or preferred milk (a typical small to medium sized mug)
- Your choice of natural sweetener, such as coconut blossom sugar, Sweet Freedom, or raw honey (optional)
A note about quantities
There is a school of thought that a "ceremonial dose" is 42g (though other figures around that are also mentioned). We'll be straight up with you; we don't agree!
This comes from many years of working daily with cacao, sitting in many ceremonial spaces with her, and journeying to connect with the Cacao Spirit. Through all that we've come to the firm conclusion that there simply is no set ceremonial dose.
She's a beautiful plant medicine, often subtle in how she works, but no matter the dose you work with, she's powerful and brings us right into our hearts.
Most often we will make a brew of around 25g per person, and we can sure testify that the effects are heart-warming and profound.

Instructions
- Gently warm your water or milk in a pan
- Carefully chop or grate your ceremonial cacao, weigh the amount you want and add the cacao
- As it melts mix in well with a whisk. You can blitz in with a hand blender for a creamier, frothier drink
- Serve in your favourite ceremonial cup and sweeten to taste
