Cacao powder is dark brown and tastes very bitter when raw with a strong chocolatey flavour. It comes from cacao beans, but is not them simply ground down into a powder. Instead, the cacao beans are crushed and the cacao butter extracted, the remaining residue is dried and that is then crushed to produce the top quality raw cacao powder we supply.
Our raw cacao powder is unroasted, sun-dried and stone ground at low temperatures. It can be used in a wide range of recipes and is a key ingredient in our Raw Chocolate Making Kits.
Cacao powder needs to be stored in a cool, dry dark place and should last at least a year.
Our bags (except 5kg) are lined with cornstarch rather than plastic and fully compostable.
