  • What is it made from?

100% fruit - just apples, grapes and carob and nothing else. No added colours, flavours or preservatives. Unlike many sweeteners no chemicals or enzymes are used in the production as Sweet Freedom is water extracted. It is produced in the UK in a nut free factory.

But isn't fruit full of Fructose, which is bad?

It is a common myth that fruit is all fructose, each fruit has varying amounts some high, some low. In fact one of the benefits of Sweet Freedom is that it is very low in fructose having only 23g per 100g. By contrast, agave syrup has approx 90g per 100g, honey has around 40g and sugar has 50g per 100g.

Sweet Freedom is made up of only the naturally occurring sugars in the three fruits used; glucose, fructose, saccharose and polyols.

    Is it organic?

The fruit used to make Sweet Freedom is as good as organic but without the organic status. But it is something the manufacturers are looking in to, although it has to come from their fruit producers.

    Is it raw?

No, Sweet Freedom is not classed as a raw product as it is heated during the extraction process.

What can I use it for?

Beyond using Sweet Freedom when making your own amazing raw chocolate recipes, it can be used anywhere that you would normally use sugar, honey or any other sweetener.

Sweeten tea, coffee, cocoa, hot and cold drinks, cocktails, yoghurt, tart fruit.

Bake * no added sugar cakes, muffins, flapjacks, puddings, brownies.

Make no added sugar sauces, desserts, jams, chutneys, dressings, granola, custards, chocolate, ice cream / lollies.

Drizzle over pancakes, crepes, porridge, and cereal.

Spread on toast in place of honey and jam.

Glaze foods prior to cooking or BBQ’ing.

Add taste to savoury dishes and stir fries.

*Recommended maximum oven temp for baking 180 degrees C.

How does it compare to sugar?

It has 25% fewer calories than sugar, is sweeter and you can reduce the amount used gram for gram by around 25% (i.e. if your recipe calls for 100g of sugar try 75g).  It also has a lower GL (Glycaemic Load) making it a better choice than sugar.

How does it compare to honey?

It has a more neutral taste than honey with no bitter after taste making it more versatile.  It also has fewer calories and a lower GL making it a better choice for diabetics. Children also prefer the taste to honey in taste tests (very young children can also be allergic to honey).

How does it compare to ‘fruit sugar’, agave syrup and xylitol?

‘Fruit sugar’ products are 100% crystalline fructose processed from sugar beet and surprisingly not fruit! Sweet Freedom has 23 grams of fructose per 100g; making it far lower in fructose than ‘fruit sugar’, honey and agave syrup (agave has approx 90g of fructose per 100g and honey around 40g.) Sweet Freedom contains only the naturally occurring sugars in the three fruits used, apples, grapes and carob.

Agave syrup is a by-product of the tequila industry, produced in Mexico from a cactus like plant pollinated by bats. Sweet Freedom is made 100% from fruit and produced in the UK.

Xylitol is a polyalcohol, made from corn husks or birch tree chips sold under various brand names (Perfect Sweet etc); is chemically processed and produced mainly in China. *It has been found that Xylitol is poisonous to dogs and they should not be offered scraps of any home made treats with it!

    Can diabetics use it?

Yes, as it has a low GL/GI of 35 it can help avoid blood sugar highs and lows making it a good choice for diabetics as part of a healthy balanced diet.

    Is it suitable for vegans?

Yes, unlike honey it is vegan friendly. It’s ideal on toast in place of honey.

Sweet Freedom Rocks!

I have bought & used Sweet Freedom a few times & it's the tastiest natural sweetener I've found so far that is lower on the glycemic index than date syrup. It is ideal for raw chocolate making.

Re ordering happy

I'm happy to recommend Elements For Life as a raw chocolate supplier. The team are lovely humans not machines. They obviously really believe in all their products & are quick to complete & send out my orders. I have been shopping with them for approx 7 months now & have built up my ingredients & equipment for making yummy chocs. Their chocolate moulds are so easy to use & clean. Now I'm gaining confidence in adding nuts & flavours to my healthy home made chocolates & enjoying chocolate without any guilt. At the moment friends & family are not sure about the health side if these wonderful treats, so I get to eat most of them, great. VP

Sweet Freedom

This is the first time I've tried a low fructose natural sweetener which was perfect for raw chocolate making. Not only does it not make me ill, it is perfect for my medicated chocolates. Much better than date syrup which is high fructose. Thank you for stocking such an excellent product! I will be buying more.
