Cacao butter is the pale yellow, edible vegetable fat extracted from the cacao bean and is one of the 3 ingredients in our Raw Chocolate Making Kit. It has a wide range of uses, from food to cosmetics, but of course our favourite use is in making tasty raw chocolates.
Our raw cacao butter is sun-dried and stone-ground at low temperatures, so retains as much of it's natural goodness as possible. It's best stored in a cool dark dry place, where it will keep for more than a year. In the warmer summer months it may become softer but should not melt completely except in very warm conditions.
When melting raw cacao butter for your raw chocolates, do so slowly over a low heat, to preserve the nutrients within.
Our bags (except 5kg bags) are lined with cornstarch rather than plastic and fully compostable.
