Brazil nuts are the edible seeds from the Bertholletia excelsa tree and fruit almost exlcusively in pristine forests, rather than plantations, where they can reach a height of 50m (160 feet) and live for over 500 years.
They provide many essential amino acids and 100 grams of Brazil nuts contain 15.2g protein, 65.2g fat and 6.7g dietary fibre. The fats in Brazil nuts are composed largely of polyunsaturated fatty acids, particularly alpha-linolenic acid and linoleic acid.
Brazil nuts are so rich in selenium, that around 5 nuts per day provide all you need.
Our broken Brazil nuts can be eaten as they are, or are a great addition to salads or raw cakes.
Our bags are lined with cornstarch rather than plastic and fully compostable.
