What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a very effective and ancient healing practice, originally from Japan.
The body has energy pathways, called meridians, which flow around the body like rivers. These rivers of energy can become depleted or overactive causing the body to become ill or out of balance, in a state of dis-ease.
Shiatsu taps into the bodies own healing ability using palm work along the meridians, as well as using finger pressure on pressure points, to free & disperse blocked energy. The body can then regain its natural balance.
Shiatsu is similar to acupuncture but with no use of needles.
A Shiatsu session usually takes place on a futon, where you are fully clothed. It can also be adapted in a chair if there are mobility issues.
