Coconut Palm Sugar
Coconut Palm Sugar is made from the liquid nectar collected from the flowers of the coconut tree (Coco Nucifera). After harvesting, it is boiled and then dried to form a naturally brown crystalline sugar. It's a very simple process that produces a very simple and high quality product.
Coconut Palm Sugar is a low glycemic natural sweetener that produce a slow release of energy without the highs and lows. It is rated as GI 35, which is lower than other sweeteners such (agave GI 42, Honey GI 55 and cane sugar GI 68) and the same as our other favourite natural sweetener, Sweet Freedom. This has benefits for weight control and improving glucose and lipid levels in people with diabetes (type 1 and type 2).
Coconut Palm Sugar is also nutrient rich, especially high in potassium, magnesium, zinc and iron, as well as being a good source of vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6 and C.
Our Coconut Palm Sugar is 100% pure coconut palm nectar, with nothing added. There are some coconut palm sugars on the market that are mxed with cane sugar or other malt-based!
