What is it made from?

100% fruit - just apples, grapes and carob and nothing else. No added colours, flavours or preservatives. Unlike many sweeteners, no chemicals or enzymes are used in the production as Sweet Freedom is water extracted. It is produced in the UK in a nut free factory.

But isn't fruit full of Fructose, which is bad?

It is a common myth that fruit is all fructose, each fruit has varying amounts some high, some low. In fact, one of the benefits of Sweet Freedom is that it is very low in fructose having only 23g per 100g. By contrast, agave syrup has approx 90g per 100g, honey has around 40g and sugar has 50g per 100g.

Sweet Freedom is made up of only the naturally occurring sugars in the three fruits used; glucose, fructose, saccharose and polyols.

What can I use it for?

Beyond using Sweet Freedom when making your own amazing raw chocolate recipes, it can be used anywhere that you would normally use sugar, honey or any other sweetener.

Sweeten tea, coffee, cocoa, hot and cold drinks, cocktails, yoghurt, tart fruit.

Bake * no added sugar cakes, muffins, flapjacks, puddings, brownies.

Make no added sugar sauces, desserts, jams, chutneys, dressings, granola, custards, chocolate, ice cream/lollies.

Drizzle over pancakes, crepes, porridge, and cereal.

Spread on toast in place of honey and jam.

Glaze foods prior to cooking or BBQing.

Add taste to savoury dishes and stir-fries.

*Recommended maximum oven temp for baking 180 degrees C.

How does it compare to sugar?

It has 25% fewer calories than sugar, is sweeter and you can reduce the amount used gram for gram by around 25% (i.e. if your recipe calls for 100g of sugar try 75g).  It also has a lower GL (Glycaemic Load) making it a better choice than sugar.

How does it compare to ‘fruit sugar’ or agave syrup?

‘Fruit sugar’ products are 100% crystalline fructose processed from sugar beet and surprisingly not fruit! Sweet Freedom has 23 grams of fructose per 100g; making it far lower in fructose than ‘fruit sugar’, honey and agave syrup (agave has approx 90g of fructose per 100g and honey around 40g.) Sweet Freedom contains only the naturally occurring sugars in the three fruits used, apples, grapes and carob.

Agave syrup is a by-product of the tequila industry, produced in Mexico from a cactus-like plant pollinated by bats. Sweet Freedom is made 100% from fruit and produced in the UK.
