Making raw chocolate is child's play

Its amazing how many people think that making chocolate is difficult, and there's no mistaking it can be, especially if you start tempering and doing fancy things. But in all honesty, there's really no need and that's one of the reasons we came up with our raw chocolate making kit. When it comes down to it, making raw chocolate is easy, dead easy.

But don't just have to take my word for it, we've had some lovely comments and feedback from our customers, including several great blog posts.

Re-launched Raw Hot Choc

Following on from our success in this summers Taste of the West Awards, where both our spiced raw hot chocolate and fiery raw hot chocolate won awards, we're not one's to sit on our laurels. So we decided how can we make them even better.

The first thing that sprang to mind was to improve the look and feel of the packaging, something we'd had on the back burner, so to speak,  for a while. The other thing we wanted to do was to add a simpler variety to the range, as some people just don't want a spicey or fiery hot chocolate.

New Old Outlet in Bradford on Avon

As some of our fans will know, some of our raw chocolate goodies used to be stocked in Who Cares, the health food shop in Bradford on Avon. Somewhere along the way, that one slipped through the net and it's been ages since our raw chocolate goodies were available there.

What is Raw Chocolate?

A question that we often get asked is "What is raw chocolate?" It's no wonder really, given that it's relatively new in the Western consciousness. After looking round the website, I realised that it's not actually something I go in to that much detail about. So here's my definitive blog post on the subject.

raw cacao podThe generally held view is that raw chocolate, in the context of what we do round these parts, relates to two key aspects. Both fundamental to raw chocolate and both fundamentally different to your average chocolate product.

New Bristol Outlets

We've been heading in to Bristol almost from the word go, having had a stall at the lovely Tobacco Factory Sunday Market several times, as well as being at 2 festivals in Bristol. One thing that we kept being asked is when are you coming to Bristol? and where can we buy your stuff in Bristol? Ah, that's two things, but you get the idea.

Well, it's taken us a while longer than planned, largely down to other time pressures and our owntardiness at times, but we're delighted to be announcing our first two Bristol stockists, woohoo!

Frome Artisan Market returns THIS Sun 1st April

One of our favourite events is back, with the return of the St Catherine's Artisan Market in Frome this Sun 1st April. This years run of markets start a month earlier than previously, and judging by the weather that's a great decision!

The market is a mix of local food producers, crafts and artists and takes place on the first Sunday of each month April through to Sept, then with a Christmas special in Dec. There's always a great vibe, with some interesting stalls and amazing produce.

Easter Raw Chocolate Events

It's that time of year again when spring is springing and we certainly seem to be getting some lovely warm weather, plenty of sun and lots of wildlife making itself known. After the long months of winter, it's a time for rebirth and renewal, a time celebrated in one form or another for thousands of years.

The most well known celebration in these parts is of course Easter, which due to the vagaries of the Gregorian calendar moves about each year. It's almost as if those that came up with the Easter celebration we have today wanted to keep us guessing and on our toes, or perhaps just in the dark!

Raw chocolate on the road again!

Last year was manic. All of it was pretty manic, but November and December especially so. Something to do with a little thing called Christmas and a LOT of fuss over what is after all just ONE day! But all work and no play makes Dan and Paula, well grumpy. I'll not beat about the bush here, or try to gloss it up as something other than it is. So January and the start of February have been quiet for us on the event front.

But that all changed a couple of weeks ago, when we had our first two events of 2012. And us being us, we did them both on the same weekend, sensible huh?

Shortlisted for the FreeFrom Food Awards!

Amazingly this is my first blog post of 2012 and we're already more than half way through February; just where does the time fly to?!

So while the year may have started out slowly when it comes to blogging, it's certainly been all go here at Elements for Life.

After a mad but fun November and December we had a well earned break that stretched into the new year. But it was definitely needed and our lives have been blessed by the rather unexpected arrival of a new member to the family; our amazing new woofer called Luna. She's certainly been keeping us occupied!

Amazing new products now available

No one likes to sit on their laurels (sounds painful to me anyway!) and the same can be said for us here at Elements for Life. So we're pleased to announce the launch of a range of new products available now for your delight and delectation.
